The "Window Resizer" extension offers a popup view with predefined window layouts that can be altered by the user. The layouts are displayed visually and are adjustable by adding or removing entries, or changing their order. The extension adjusts the window size based on the monitor and uses percent measurements, making it suitable for all monitor sizes. Six keyboard shortcuts can be defined by the user to quickly access the first six layouts without opening the popup. The extension runs a non-persistent background script for efficient use and does not impact browser performance.

FAQs

  1. What is the "Window Resizer" add-on and how can I use it?

This extension enables the adjustment of the current window size to a user-defined set of configurable sizes. The user can choose which monitor the window should be placed on during the resizing process, with the active monitor being the default selection. The extension uses percent measurements in the popup, calculating each size based on the selected display before resizing. The layout options are displayed in the left section of the popup window, and in the right sidebar, the user can add new layouts or select the display to base the resizing.

  2. What's new in this version?

    Please check the Logs section.

  3. How can I add a new layout to the view?

Use the right sidebar in the popup window to add a new layout. Please enter all four values (left, right, top, bottom) in percentages. For example, to fill the left half of the display, the left ad top values would be 0%, the right value would be 50%, and the bottom value would be 100%. Enter these values without the "%" symbol. The extension includes a validation check to prevent invalid numbers. The right and bottom values must be greater than the left and top ones. Note that the extension automatically inserts the current window size when the popup gets opened. If you want to save the current window size as a layout, press the save button without changing these values.

  4. Can I delete a layout in the popup if I no longer need it?

Yes, hover over the item, and a close button will appear in the top right corner. Clicking this button will permanently remove the layout, but it can be easily added again later.

  5. Is it possible to rearrange the items in the popup area?

You can rearrange items by dragging and dropping them to the desired position. These changes are permanent. New items can be added from the sidebar and will be added to the end of the list. They can then be moved to a different location as needed.
