What is the "Caffeine" extension and how does it work?
This extension prevents the system from entering hibernation mode, a low-power state that many operating systems default to when the system is idle. While this is an effective way to conserve energy, there are instances where it may not be desirable, such as when downloading files or running monitoring applications. Unfortunately, not all applications support keeping the system awake when doing a job that must not get interrupted. This extension offers a simple solution by allowing the user to prevent the system or display from entering power-saving mode with a single click. The icon will change color to indicate the extension is active, and the system or display will remain awake. Click the action button again to release the "keep awake" state. Additionally, place the mouse over the action button to get the state's info.

What is the default level of the "keep awake" state, and how can I change this state?
By default, this extension sets the "keep awake" state to the "display" level, which prevents the display from entering power-saving mode. You can change it by accessing the right-click context menu over the action button. There are two options: the "display" level, which only prevents the display from entering the power-saving mode, and the "system" level, which prevents the entire system from entering hibernate or screensaver mode.
Is this extension the only way to keep a system awake, or do I have other options too?
All operating systems have configurations specifying when the system or display should enter power-saving mode. This extension offers a simple way to achieve temporary "keep awake" functionality with a single click. However, there are alternative methods available in some operating systems that allow users to prevent the system from entering hibernation mode while an application is running. For example, in macOS, users can use the "caffeinate -d" command to prevent the display from dimming while an application is running.
What does the "keep awake when downloading" option mean in the right-click context menu?
Enabling the "keep awake when downloading" option keeps your system awake while downloading files, even if the extension is not active. This option works independently from the default operation of the extension and is particularly useful to prevent the power-saving mode from interrupting downloading of large files.
